About Heroes Everywhere Animal Rescue
We are a 501(c)3 shelter based animal rescue and sanctuary serving Evangeline Parish, LA. It is just 1 of the 33 parishes without animal control or a parish shelter. The 2 city pounds, 2 rescues, and a couple dozen dedicated animal activists aren't enough to handle the ever-increasing stray population. We work with local groups, but most of our support comes from individuals whose lives we touched in some way, either through an adoption or by helping them manage the well-being of their current companion(s).
The highlight of our work is seeing the once malnourished, frightened, hopeless pup that we picked up on Day 1, vibrant and full of life with his furever family when most people might not have given him a chance. I am an underdog, so I love the "underdog".
Our shelter rescue is transitioning to a weigh station when necessary, but mostly it will serve to give "unadoptable" pups a more suitable habitat for long term stays while simultaneously working consistently with each pup to make their adoptions much more likely through obedience training, confidence building, reactivity exercises and plenty of 1on1 playtime to keep their inner puppy alive🥰
We get to save lives from here by creating new lives with our adopters, wherever they may be. It is easily the most difficult yet most rewarding thing we have ever done.
Adoption Information
Our adoption process consists of an application, home visit, speak to 3 personal references and your veterinarian. If you have a particular doggo in mind you can let us know here, but if you are searching for your companion, give us the opportunity to match you with your best fit from our rescue. Of course, you're not obligated to adopt who we select, or anyone for that matter, but we believe that you will be pleasantly surprised at the results.
All of our animals leave altered, microchipped and vaccinated for parvo, rabies and heartworms. You will also receive a swag bag with treats, toys, sweater/jacket when appropriate and coupons to some of our partner organizations. They will come with enough of the food that they are receiving at our place for you to correctly transition your new friend over to your preference, if it differs. They'll come with their max and nro collar and leash if in stock.
We will ask that you provide a comfortably sized crate for the pups 1st three days at their new home. This gives them the chance to decompress and process information in a "safe place", which this crate will remain if this crucial step is not ignored. We have also dug up a bunch of good information for 1st time adopters, so, if your new to this, you will have an instruction manual. And always, please reach out to us with any concerns or questions. We want the pup and the adopter(s) to have an amazing experience, so we are always a call away.
Now, whether you adopt from us or not, thank you for deciding to find your furry friend at a pound or a rescue; where their past caused scars and their future caused nightmares.
